Asus has already tasted success with its Zenfone series in India, and is continuously updating its offering in the country to stay relevant and capture the maximum market share. All their devices come with distinctive features, for example Zenfone Laser, and the Asus Zenfone Max in no different. It comes with a massive 5000 mAh battery pack, which can last for several hours on a single charge.
We used the device for some time, and here are first impressions about the device-

Design & Display
Design wise, the Asus Zenfone Max looks just like any other Asus smartphone, and the design language adopted by the company doesn’t seem to change anytime soon. However, there is a metal-like strip running around the device which certainly gives it a premium feel. It back has a soft touch feel, and gives good grip while using it with one hand. Coming with a massive battery, the weight of the smartphone is on the higher side at 202 grams, and that is totally acceptable.
Asus has included a screen size of 5.5 inches and it comes with a resolution if 1280 x 720. The display is one of the very few areas where the device disappoints. When most of the smartphones launched in the sub Rs. 15000 range come with a full HD panel, Asus settled with a 720p display. Nevertheless, low resolution will end up giving you a better battery life.
Hardware & Software
The Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz powers the device, and is accompanied by Adreno 405 for handling graphics. Its predecessor was powered by Snapdragon 410 processor, so the Snapdragon 615 seems to be a serious update. There are two variants of the device, one with 2 GB RAM, and the other one with 3 GB RAM. Both the variants feel quite snappy while doing the basic tasks; we are yet to perform the stress test in the detailed review to know its real power.
Both the variants of Asus Zenfone Max come with 32 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. The all new Zenfone smartphone comes running on Android 6.0 out of the box with Zen UI 2.0 on top. The smooth performance of the smartphone is a lot dependent on the software, and the new Zen UI manages to give maximum performance with minimum lag, at least during our usage lasting few minutes.
Camera
Its camera unit hasn’t been updated from its predecessors, but its specs still looks quite strong on paper. The back of the device houses a 13 MP sensor with Asus’ PixelMaster technology and has laser autofocus system for precise focus even in low light condition. The aperture of the camera is f/2.0, and it is accompanied by real tone flash. All these combined create a fairly good photography experience. We can comment on the camera quality once we’re done with the in-depth review. The front camera on the device is of 5 MP.

Battery
Here comes the high light of the device, its battery. The Asus Zenfone Max houses a battery pack of 5000 mAh! That’s the battery capacity we see in many of the power banks. The company claims that the device can last for 914.4 hours of standby time or 37.5 hours of 3G talk time! If the number are to be believed, the device can be a game changer. But again, we will certainly verify this claim in our review. The supplied OTG cable can be used to charge other devices too.
