After being announced in China last month, the company promised to bring Meizu M3 Note to India. And today it was finally launched in India. The smartphone is in direct competition with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with their close pricing and feature set. We spent some time with the device during its launch, and here are our first impressions.
Design and Display
The smartphone is priced right below 10000 bucks; despite the fact, it looks strikingly similar to the Apple iPhone. The front of the device is very simple with just a tiny home button/fingerprint sensor sitting right below the display, just like the iPhone. Meizu M3 Note gives a premium feel with its metal aluminium body and 2.5D glass on the front.
The display of the device is of 5.5 inches and come with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The screen brightness can top up to 450 nits. We found the display to be bright enough for outdoor usage, and it has wide viewing angles too. The thin bezels around the display ensure better screen to body ratio.
Hardware and Software
The M3 Note is powered by the newly launched octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 clocked at 1.8 GHz and Mali T860 GPU. Its RAM capacity is of 3 GB. The combination seems quite promising on paper, but we can give a verdict on the device’s performance only after reviewing it thoroughly. However, the smartphone ran butter smooth during the brief time we used it, and we faced no lags whatsoever while multitasking.
It runs on Meizu’s Flyme OS 5.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The smartphone disappoints a bit in this regard, as the company should have made the device available with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The UI is very simple, similar to all other custom UIs on Chinese smartphones, and lacks app drawer. The M3 Note packs a battery of 4100 mAh, which, the company claims, can offer a full day of talktime on a single charge.
Camera
It houses a 13 MP camera unit on the back and is accompanied by dual-tone LED flash. The camera app is very quick to launch and offers tons of features to make the images even better. While the images clicked look fine, we will reserve our final verdict till our in-depth review. It also has a 5 MP camera on the front, and both the cameras are capable of taking 1080p videos.
Considering its features and pricing, the Meizu M3 Note is in direct competition with the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, LeEco Le 1s, Lenovo K4 Note. We’ll have to see of this Meizu smartphone is capable enough to beat them all or not. The M3 Note will be available for Rs. 9999 in Gold, Silver and Gray colour options. It is an Amazon.in exclusive device, and will be available from May 31st through flash sales. Because of the good enough configurations this smartphone is going to be best buy smartphone under 10000INR.
