There is no shortage of overpriced phones launched in India in 2015 and 2016. Whenever a new device is launched, we all have only one complaint that the price should have been a bit lower. No, but seriously there are many smartphones that are priced way too much than the worth they actually offer.

Here is a list of 10 most overpriced phones launched in India, that you may avoid.

10 Most Overpriced Phones Launched in India – FY 2015 & 2016

1. Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus

Though the prices of the latest iPhones have come down significantly, they still remain to be one of the most overpriced phones in India. At launch, they were priced starting ₹62000 and went up to ₹92000 for the 128 GB variant of the iPhone 6s Plus.

2. BlackBerry Priv

BlackBerry, for the first time, went out of their way to make an Android smartphone in order to gain back the lost market. But they went wrong again, this time with the pricing of the device. The device was launched in India for ₹62999, leaving even the iPhones behind.

3. Apple iPhone SE

The latest smartphone in Apple’s stable was expected to be priced more modestly to target the mid-range customers. But, Apple being Apple, launched it for a price much higher than the expected price. Apple iPhone SE launched with a price tag of ₹39000, against the expected price of ₹25000 – ₹30000. Know 10 reasons to buy Apple iPhone SE

4. Sony Xperia X Dual

Sony has been losing market share in almost every market worldwide, thanks to their extortionate pricing. The specifications of the Xperia X Dual are similar to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 but is priced less than a quarter of what the Xperia X costs. It is definitely one of the most overpriced phones and was launched for ₹46990 in India.

5. Asus Zenfone Zoom

While rest of the phones in the Zenfone series offer decent features at a good price point, the Zenfone Zoom was one exception at launch. It was launched for ₹37999 in India, which was way higher than any of the phones with similar specifications. Yeah, it has a fancy camera with optical zoom, but that too doesn’t justify the price.

6. Sony Xperia XA Dual

It is another blunder from the company, but this time, they thankfully chose the mid-tier segment. Many smartphones below the mark of ₹10000 come with similar and in many cases better features than the Xperia XA. The device was made available with an official price or ₹20990

7. HTC Desire 630

Sony and HTC both are going the same way by launching comparatively low specced devices for a price that doesn’t match at all. HTC chose to launch the Desire 630 with 5-inch 720p display, the ageing Snapdragon 400 and 2200 mAh battery for a steep price of ₹14990. Think.

8. LYF Earth 2

Reliance Industries have been promoting their LYF brand from much time now and have been offering bundled packages with their Jio platform. But, the reason for the device making to the list of most overpriced phones is obviously its price. It bears a price tag of ₹19999 for features that are available in devices with half the price.

9. HTC Desire 825

Okay, let us know the device’s specifications first. The HTC Desire 825 comes with a 5.5-inch 720p display, is powered by 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 2 GB RAM, 13 + 5 MP camera and 2700 mAh battery. Can you guess the price? ₹8000 maybe? Or max ₹10000, right? HTC priced it ₹18990!
